Derek Lam at Home

While we're discussing Derek Lam, I figured I might as well repost his fabulous downtown loft.  As I've mentioned a million times before, I love to see where fashion designers live.  Their creativity always carries over to their interiors and they are usually filled with interesting objects.  It's funny that Derek's apartment doesn't have any patterned fabrics except for some subtle throw pillows.  Kind of reminds me of his fashions.  Enjoy!

Tom Pecheux & Estée Lauder at Derek Lam

We can't all have a make up artist on call everyday (ahem, Rachel Zoe) but we can still learn from their expertise.  Estée Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux and his team of makeup artists created the stunning look above on 30 models at the Derek Lam fashion show and included a chart.  

 

“Working with Derek Lam is a true creative collaboration, he loves to bend the rules the way I do. So I created the focus on the eyes with products that are actually made for the lips. If that is a little too dramatic for you, I suggest checking out Tom's Pure Color line of cosmetics for Estée Lauder. I was lucky enough to receive some of the lip glosses and can attest to the fabulous colors and textures. Just make sure you learn from my mistake and don't wear it on a windy day!

NYFW: Derek Lam Spring 2011

I'm happy to see that the 1970's are still inspiring designers for Spring 2011 including Derek Lam.  His show was clean and beautiful in the best possible sense. I loved the longer hemlines and classic American sportswear look.  His fabulous white dresses would look amazing paired with a chunky necklace or big cuff bracelets.  I think there is nothing better than mixing things up and this collection is perfect for adding to your existing wardrobe.  It's been raining in New York and I wish I add one of his trenches my own wardrobe today!

A Fashionable Life: Derek Lam

I will be out at meetings and appointments the entire day so I am leaving you with photos from fashion designer Derek Lam's chic Soho loft recently published in Bazaar. It's close to his soon to open new boutique on Crosby Street which I can't wait to check out. I've always had an affinity for Derek Lam since we're both Aries and he used ram heads on his handbags. "It's always about luxury while at the same time feeling casual and relaxed," is how he described the loft but the same could also be said of his fashions. Happy Wednesday!
