Mix Master

I came across photos of one of my favorite living rooms recently.  I absolutely love the mix of the French style sofa with light wood trim, gilt mirror, shiny black piano, modern Mies van der Rohe Barcelona chaise, and Fortuny lamp.  It's the perfect example of how you shouldn't be afraid to mix things that you think might not go together. It also makes me want to put an Hermes blanket on my Christmas list!  The home was designed by Jennifer Ferreira and was featured in Canadian House & Home.  It was fun to look through all the rooms again especially because I didn't remember seeing her son's room which is adorable.  Enjoy!

Luxe Loft Living

You'd probably be surprised to learn that the owner of the traditional home I wrote about in my last post also owns this modern loft in Montreal.  Of course, she filled it with more of her fabulous French furniture so you barely notice that there are no architectural details.  Another example of thinking outside the white box.

Thank you Canadian House & Home!

I've been reading Canadian House & Home for over a year and can't get enough.  It's filled the void left by Domino and always features unique and interesting interiors.  So, I was beyond honored when they asked to interview for the October 2010 issue!  My issue hasn't arrived yet but it has already come out in Canada.  I can't believe all the sweet emails and Twitter messages I have received from my Canadian readers.  All of your support and encouragement warms my heart and definitely keeps me motivated to keep blogging.  If your issue hasn't arrived yet, you can click on the photos here to enlarge them in order to read the article .  You can also subscribe to the digital version which I highly recommend.  Thanks again Canadian House & Home

Chic City Living

While there may be a dearth of American Shelter magazines, the foreign options just keep getting better and better. I was very excited to receive my new subscription to Canadian House & Home magazine this week and also to see Thomas Smyth's home featured in their City Living section. If you happen to watch Design, Inc. on HGTV, then you might have seen Thomas who is one of Sarah Richardson's design assistants. He is is a hoot and his home is a great mix of interesting art and found treasures. I wish there more high caliber design shows like Design, Inc. and Divine Design on HGTV! If you haven't picked up Canadian House & Home yet, I highly recommend you do so you can see more of this chic city home!
