A Mystery Solved

A big thanks go out to Christina at Full House for letting me know that the bookshelves I posted yesterday were from Nuevo Estilo and to Gracia who completed the puzzle by letting me they were designed by Isabel López-Quesada.  I absolutely love the blue sofa and mirrored wall just as much as the lacquered shelves and it was nice to see the complete design.  The view from the terrace of Madrid is pretty fantastic too!  Enjoy!

Every week, I tell myself that I'm not going to buy any more books and of course, every week I buy another book. I just can't help myself. I love all the pretty photos and wonderful stories. Some are silly summer beach reads and others are highly sought after collectibles but I love them all the same. Only problem is that I'm running out of bookshelves. I can't wait until the day that I have a house big enough to have an entire room devoted to books and have already started an inspiration file devoted to the project. These are just some of my favorites. I'm still amazed at Karl Lagerfeld's massive collection. Thank goodness I don't have that many! I wonder when he finds time to actually read them! Enjoy!

Shhh...we're eating!

I had already been working on a post about library dining rooms before I spoke to Dick Bories and James Shearron of Bories and Shearron about the room I posted yesterday which was perfect timing! They mentioned that combining the library and dining room was more of a European tradition but it looks like it's starting to catch on here in American from these examples. I think it's a great idea for New York apartments since space is at a premium and most people do not sit down to eat their dining rooms except on holidays. I know that I would love to not only have that much room for books but a table to spread them out on to work and some of these rooms look they also serve as an office. And as one of my readers pointed out in a comment, how lovely would it be at a dinner party if someone pulled a book off a shelf when the conversation turned literary. I guess you just have to make sure you don't spill anything on them!
