Bon Weekend!

There is so much fun stuff going on this weekend that I just had to share it all. Saturday is another One Kings Lane Tastemaker sale and this time it features Windsor Smith. That's her work above. I had the please of meeting Ms. Smith in LA and she couldn't have been nicer or more stylish so I'm sure her picks will be very chic!

Also on tap is the Los Angeles Antiques Show which runs through Sunday. I really wish I could pop on a plane and check out this fabulous event. I heard nothing but wonderful things about it while in LA!

Not quite as good as the $25 off a $50 purchase which is what the event used to be when I first moved to NYC but I can't really complain. Any discount at Bergdorfs is a good discount! After you load up on beauty products at Bergdorf's, you can head down to MoMA and check out the Henri Cartier-Bresson photography exhibit! I might see you at both!

It's supposed to rain Sunday so I ordered my copy of The Young Victoria on DVD to watch while I hibernate inside. I loved this film and can't wait to see those beautiful costumes again. And of course handsome Rupert Friend too!

Last but no least, start sucking up to all your well connected friends so you can snag a reservation at the soon to open new restaurant, The Lion (62 West Ninth Street at Sixth Avenue). The preview dinner last week brought out Ashton and Demi as well as every other fashionable New Yorker since the chef, John DeLucie, is also the chef at another no number listed restaurant, The Waverly Inn. Haven't heard if truffle mac & cheese will also be on The Lion menu but I did hear that Barbra Streisand performed in the same space in the 1960's. If she was there today, I bet she'd be singing Big Papa Can You Hear Me? Bonne chance and bon weekend!

Sex and the City 2: Chairs for Sale

This morning, one of my readers asked about where to find the chairs featured in the new Sex and the City 2 film and the answer came a short time later. Nicholas Manville the head of the Decorative Home Department of Bergdorf Goodman emailed me to let me know that the actual chairs from the film were sitting on the 7th floor! How exciting! After lunch, Grant K. Gibson, who is in town from San Francisco, and I headed over to check them out. They are a little hard to find since they are sitting outside the elevators on the 57th Street side of the 7th floor but are worth the hunt. The chairs were designed by T.H. Robsjohn Gibbings in the 1940's and can be yours for $16,500! If that's out of your budget, you can always go sit in them so you can say that you sat in the same chairs as Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City 2 ! You just might want to stop on the second floor first for some Louboutins to complete the experience!

The Frontline with Linda Fargo

Linda Fargo is the Senior Vice President, Women's Fashion Director and Store Presentation for Bergdorf Goodman and is one of the chicest women in New York! Since the women in my family went white haired very early, I always joke that if I go white someday then I want to look like Linda! I should be so lucky! I stumbled upon her dispatches from The Frontline of fashion week and was in heaven! I've posted her pages from Paris here but you can also read about Milan and New York online. I love that they look like a Moleskine diary! They are manifique!

HUE by Kelly Wearstler

Camellia. Wisteria. Vermillion. When the first chapter of a book starts with these three words, you know it's going to be good but HUE is more than just good. It is a kaleidoscope of the most amazing color in some of the most awe inspiring interiors I have ever seen! Tonight was the book signing at Bergdorf Goodman and Ms. Wearstler could not have been nicer or more gracious to the crowd clamoring for her autograph and attention which included actresses Sarah Wynter and Stefanie March, and fashion designer Derek Lam. On sale was the limited edition slipcased book and I highly recommend that you splurge on this copy or ask Santa to bring it to you for Christmas because the outside is just as gorgeous as the photos inside.

What I love about Kelly Wearstler is that she is always blazing a new trail. You may not like it but you have to give her credit for thinking outside the box and creating designs that are uniquely her own. I also highly admire that her ambition was always to own her own design firm and that she made her dream a reality, and then some! I hear her that one of her new ventures will be jewelry and I can already imagine that it will be like nothing we've seen before and just as fabulous as her new book! I think I will be inspired by it for years to come and I think you will be too!

Bergdorf Goodman Holiday Windows 2009

The Bergdorf Goodman holiday windows were still being "tweaked" tonight according to the man in charge David Hoey who I ran into when I was there to photograph them. They looked pretty great to me and I thanked David for always putting together the best windows! The theme this year is "Curiousier and Curiousier" which is inspired by Lewis Carroll and his works Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. You can already see that they swapped out the dog for a parrot in the fantasy library made out of paper. I think my favorite is the birds eye view of the red room with the king and queen playing chess and other games. The room is turned on its side and the details are exquisite! You have to wonder how they glued it all down! I also love the Victorian themed window that looks like a Valentine card and includes a Cheshire cat! The window filled with staircases was inspired by Alice in Wonderland and is entitled "Drink Me." The all mirror and glass covered silver window was of course inspired by Through the Looking Glass and reflects all the lights of Fifth Avenue. They are all amazing and even the four windows around the corner depicting animals continue the fantasy! I hope those of you who can make it to New York will stop by and see them for yourself and for those of you who can't, these photos are my present to you! Happy Holidays!

Bergdorf Goodman Sneak Peek

The Bergdorf Goodman holiday windows are almost finished but not quite there yet so you'll have to make due with this little sneak peek. They are so intricate and full of amazing details that they always take a little longer than expected to complete. I'm sure the window dressers must be exhausted since they are working overtime and I personally want to thank them for all their hard work since their holiday windows are always the best! Richard Mishaan: Modern Luxury

If you don't live in New York, you might not be familiar with interior designer Richard Mishaan but you better learn his name because you are going to be hearing a lot about him soon. Richard Mishaan's career path has been an interesting one that had him designing woman's fashions at one point and later designing furniture for his store, Homer, which was how I was familiar with him. Tonight, he was debuting his new book Modern Luxury, which with a very chic party at Bergdorf Goodman.

Richard and his ridiculously beautiful wife Marcia are real socialites, not Housewives of New York wannabee socialites, so the party was filled with the who's who of New York. Among the chic guest were Marisa Berenson, Nina Griscom, Mario Buatta, Philip Gorrivan, and Town & Country editor Pamela Fiori who wrote the forward to the book. I brought along my friend Eleanor Banco who works for Teen Vogue since she is obsessed with interior design just as I am obsessed with fashion. I was excited when she brought me the latest issue! I also invited blogger and Rubie Green designer Michelle Adams who I was excited to catch up with. Also on hand was my friend Kevin Isbell, design director for Bilhuber & Associates who introduced me to Allison Caccoma, the interior designer behind the May 2009 House Beautiful cover! Allison used to work for Bunny Williams and Jeffrey Bilhuber and I can't wait to talk to her more about her work soon!

But let's get back to Richard Mishaan. Richard describes his design style as "fusion" and that definitely describes it. I like when a designer isn't afraid to mix things up and not have a signature style but one that fits each interior and client. There is a chic and elegant feeling to all the spaces in his book but they are also all unique which is why the book is so interesting. My favorite quote from Richard Mishaan is "I am both a modernist and a classicist - I believe we can honor traditional style without living in the dusty past." Amen!
